Take the following courses to receive your learner's permit. There are different courses depending on your age.
If you are UNDER 18, you must complete the 6-hour DETS course AND pass the learner's permit test (state requirement). Options are available below. You can do one or both online if you wish.

After you pass the online course and the permit test, you will need to go to the Tax Collector/DMV office to get your picture taken and be issued the permit. Make sure you bring the correct documents for proof of identity to get your permit. View DMV document requirements.
6-Hour Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) Online Course

ONLY Students under 18 must complete six hours of Driver Education Traffic Safety (DETS) AND pass the online learner's permit test. If you are under 18 and applying for your first Florida learner’s license, this is the state-required course that helps you get licensed confidently.

Florida Learner's Permit Test (50 Question Knowledge Exam)
* FOR STUDENTS UNDER 18*
This online test is mandatory for students under 18. If you are over 18, the learner's permit test can only be taken at the DMV.
The test contains 50 questions. Upon completing the test, you will be eligible to receive your learner's permit at a Florida DMV office. This test is approved by the Florida Department of Highway Safety Motor Vehicles.

4-Hour TLSAE / Alcohol Drugs Accident Prevention Training (ADAPT) Course
* ONLY FOR STUDENTS OVER 18*
This online course (4 hours) is mandatory for all ages and must be completed at our website before taking the permit test in-person at a Tax Collector/DMV office. This course is also required for licensed drivers under 21 years of age who have received a notice of suspension for driving under the influence of alcohol.
Upon finishing the class, we electronically send your completion confirmation to any DMV office in Florida. Make sure you bring the correct documents to prove your identity. View DMV document requirements
If you are over 18, you can't complete the Learner's Permit Test online. You must take the test at a TAX COLLECTOR/DMV office.
